Immunization is a method that a person does to prevent a person’s immunity from a disease. The immunization process is carried out by administering vaccines. Certain vaccines make the immune system work optimally against certain diseases.

The immune system of newborn children is different from the immune system of adults who are already working optimally. Immunization is important to protect children’s immunity from various risks of disease in the future. After we are immunized, our bodies are better able to fight disease.

Most childhood vaccinations are carried out from birth to around 6 years of age. There are types of vaccines that are given more than once at different ages. You need to carefully record your child’s vaccine taking.

With this immunization program, there are several diseases that tend to no longer be a threat to children. There are several examples of immunizations that have succeeded in controlling several diseases. The examples include smallpox and polio which can be prevented in the UK because of immunization.

If your child does not get immunized since childhood, there are several effects that can be caused. One of them is at risk of contracting and experiencing illness faster. Below is the impact that occurs when the child does not do immunization.

  • Tuberculosis (TB)

TB disease is one of the effects of the disease that may occur when the baby is not immunized. To prevent this disease, at their early age, your child needs to get the Bacillus Calmette Guerin (BCG) vaccine.

  • Contracting Hepatitis B

The next disease that tends to arise due to unimmunized babies is hepatitis infection. This disease is a dangerous disease because this disease is at risk of losing a person’s life in attacking the liver.

If this disease is not treated promptly, it can lead to liver cancer. Therefore, it is important for your child to be given immunizations as a preventive for this disease.

Hepatitis B (HB) vaccine/ immunization is usually given within 12 hours after the baby is born. Furthermore, this vaccine will be continued again at the age of 1 month and 3-6 months. The distance between the two hepatitis B immunizations is 4 weeks for prevention.

  • Polio disease

Polio is also one of the effects that may arise when children are not immunized. This is a viral disease that is highly contagious and attacks the nervous system. Polio can cause paralysis in a person because it attacks the central nervous system.

  • Influenza

Usually, immunization for this disease is given to children at least in their six months and will be carried out routinely. Influenza is indeed a common disease even as adults. However, giving a vaccine for this disease can reduce the chances of a child suffering from influenza to a quite severe stage.

  • Tendency to Have Complicated Diseases

Children who are not immunized early have a higher risk of developing complications. This happens because the immune system is not strengthened with vaccines that help detect certain dangerous diseases.

The body that is not equipped with the appropriate vaccine will have difficulty recognizing the incoming virus so that it cannot fight it. This will make it easier for disease germs to breed and infect the child’s body.

If the baby is not immunized at all, the child will be at risk of developing the diseases mentioned above. Therefore, you as parents need to see the importance of immunizing children from childhood and carry out regular consultations and immunization schedules.
